Jacqueline Maxwell, from the Big Lottery Fund said of the tour:
“It was great to get out into the great outdoors and experience first-hand the developments of the Connswater Community Greenway.  I didn’t realise how connected that the people of east Belfast will be. You can literally walk from one side of this part of the City to the other! I would definitely recommend the next Tour for anyone to get behind the scenes access of the project”.
Thanks to everyone who came along including:, Big Lottery Fund NI, Belfast City Council , DSD, DRD, Sustrans NI, NIHE, Connswater Shopping Centre, Connswater Community Centre, QUB PARC, EastSide Partnership Board member and staff, local politicians, residents and everyone else. Also big thanks to our contractor, Farrans Construction for facilitating it.
Once complete the Connswater Community Greenway will follow the Connswater, Knock and Loop Rivers in east Belfast. It will run from Victoria Park linking up places along the way including, Mersey Street, Holywood Arches, Orangefield Park, Clarawood, Laburnum, Braniel, Elmgrove, Cregagh and on to the hills of the Cregagh Glen. The entire Greenway should be complete by the end of 2016. The next Hard Hat Tour will take place in March 2016 (date to be confirmed).
