Hard Hat Tour of our new sections

On Thursday 15th October we went on a Connswater Community Greenway Hard Hat Bus Tour to see the developments of the new sections of the Connswater Community Greenway.

During the day we explored the new sections including; Orangefield Park to Knock Dual Carriageway; Dixon Playing Field, C.S. Lewis Civic Square and Mersey Street. We also walked through the existing and open section at Orangefield Park.
(Hard Hat Tour Group stop for a snap in Section C7; Orangefield Park to Knock Dual Carriageway currently under construction)

Michael Briggs, Chief Executive of the East Belfast Community Development Association said:
"The tour was excellent and I would definitely recommend it to anyone to see first hand the vastness of this project.  The Connswater Community Greenway has already physically connected many communities by linking up places throughout east Belfast.  It will be great when the Greenway is complete so that people can walk and cycle to their destination whilst experiencing the beautiful outdoors of east Belfast."

Thanks to everyone who came along including: Belfast City Council, Big Lottery Fund NI, DSD, DARD Rivers Agency,  DRD, Arup, Youth Iniatives, East Belfast Community Development Agency,  Walkway Community Association, Bloomfield Community Association, EastSide Partnership staff, local politicians and everyone else! Also big thanks to our contractor Farrans Construction for facilating it!

Once complete the Connswater Community Greenway will follow the Connswater, Knock and Loop Rivers in east Belfast. It will run from Victoria Park linking up places along the way including, Mersey Street, Holywood Arches, Orangefield Park, Clarawood, Laburnum, Braniel, Elmgrove, Cregagh and on to the hills of the Cregagh Glen. The entire Greenway should be complete by the end of 2016.
