Connswater Community Greenway Stakeholder Forum takes place at Braniel Church

On Friday 16th October the latest Connswater Community Greenway (CCG) Stakeholder Forum took place at Braniel Church. 

Issues discussed included the construction works and design element of the project, community engagement and activities and also a visit from Ulster University to discuss their Community Participation in Planning  which is focusing on the Connswater Community Greenway.

Carol Andrews from ARUP (who are finalising the design of the CCG) spoke about the current sections that are developing including the exciting plans for the new C.S. Lewis Civic Square at Holywood Arches. This includes 7 pieces of Narnia themed public art which are currently being developed by Irish artist, Maurice Harron.

Wendy Langham, Programme Manager of the Connswater Community Greenway gave an update on the construction from Farrans and reminded the group that if they have any questions, queries or comments on the works you can telephone the Farrans Free Customer Careline on 0800 0838 160.

Michele Bryans, the new Connswater Community Greenway Engagement and Volunteer Manager spoke about what she had been getting up to since taking up her post from Sean. Michele reminded the group that we always need volunteers so if you are interested in volunteering please get in touch by telephoning 028 9046 7925 or emailing: michele@eastsidepartnership.org.

The forum ended with an update from Gavin Rafferty from Ulster University who informed the group that the Community Participation and Planning Course are focusing their assignment on the Connswater Community Greenway. If you are from the Braniel, Clarawood or Laburnum the students would love to hear from you with any ideas of engagement for the area or if you have knowledge of the history of the area.
