Charity Santa Cycle

Santa Cycle

Over 100 Santas were getting in shape for the big Christmas Eve event, by cycling along part of the Connswater Community Greenway and the Comber Greenway on Sunday.

Starting at 10.30am from the H&W Drawing office in Titanic Quarter, cyclists arrived 9 miles later in Andrews Memorial Primary School in Comber, refuelled with hot dogs, bacon butties, mince pies and mulled wine.

Organiser of the event, Rosi Kirker created the cycle in aid of the Lance Armstrong Foundation, a non‐profit organisation that inspires and empowers people affected by cancer.

No one is more motivational than Armstrong himself, one of the world’s best cyclists at the age of 25 and a testicular cancer survivor. As a record holding, seven time-winner of the Tour de France, Armstrong serves as a constant reminder that in the battle with cancer, unity is strength, knowledge is power and attitude is everything.

We would like to thank the Inner East Youth Project for the loan of bikes and helmets for the day and also thank all the marshalls who volunteered at the event.
