US Consul General Visits Greenway

The new United States Consul General for Belfast, Kevin Roland, visited the CCG project office as part of his tour of East Belfast. Cllr Dawn Purvis MLA hosted Mr Roland’s visit to east Belfast where she highlighted issues of concern in the area as well as areas where improvement is needed. The tour also included visiting projects which were working to improve the conditions of the area and the people.

Cllr Purvis said “I was delighted to meet and host Consul General Kevin Roland in east Belfast. I am happy he took the time to come and tour the area.  Meeting community groups and staff he was able to sample the abundance of grassroots activists and projects that east Belfast has to offer.”

“Throughout the day we met with many community and voluntary groups,  Mr Roland was engaging and enthusiastic as east Belfast’s community leaders discussed their projects and the needs of the people of east Belfast.”

“The US has always played a constructive and active role in Northern Ireland, they have been a valuable broker within our peace process and the willingness of the Consul to engage openly with the community illustrates their desire to continue to play a positive role in Northern Ireland.”
