CCG Visit Ballinderry River

CCG Visit Ballinderry River

The CCG Staff Team recently visited the Ballinderry Fish Hatchery in Cookstown, Co. Tyrone.

They were given the opportunity to discuss ‘RIPPLE’ (Rivers Involving People, Places and Learning by Example), a scheme involving both WWF and the Ballinderry Fish Hatchery. Its aim is to bring together locals and community groups from the areas around the river and help them to rediscover the Ballinderry River as it is today and to encourage them to shape it for the future.

CCG Visit Ballinderry RiverBoth the Ballinderry staff and the CCG staff exchanged project backgrounds and shared lessons learnt, especially in terms of community engagement.

A tour was given of the hatchery and the CCG team had the opportunity to witness first hand fish being hatched!

The staff at Ballinderry were extremely helpful and we hope to have them visit the Connswater Community Greenway in the near future.

We are looking forward to working in partnership with Ballinderry Fish Hatchery as we deliver the Connswater Community Greenway project.
